 Help the Hogs

The students involved with the OC Hogs cover all of the expenses associated with participation themselves, and they are poor college students. Here's how you can help out.

Our biggest need is equipment!

  • Axes - We've got plenty of axes, but we do need replacement axe handles (single or double bit).

  • Machetes - It wouldn't be Cut without thick undergrowth, right? The more machetes we have, the less time we have to waste clearing brush when we could be killin' trees!


  • Bow Saws - We use these to limb and top trees, we need replacement blades.

  • Hatchets - Work well on medium sized limbs and brush.

Here are a few other things that we'd like to have but are not as imperative:

  • Athletic Tape
  • Files and sharpeners - Any type will work.
  • Brush hook - This is great for clearing light to moderate undergrowth. It's quicker than using a machete and allows us to spend more of our time killing trees.
  • Duct tape - One of Bonfire's best friends.
  • First Aid - Various first aid supplies - disinfectant for minor cuts and scratches, bandaids, tweezers, aspirin, and the like. Don't plan on using it much, but better to have it collecting dust than need it and not have it at all.
  

 

 

 
  In an ideal world, the only expenses associated with killing trees would be the cost of the equipment needed. Unfortunately, that's not the way things work. As an off campus crew, recruiting is an entirely different beast than the recruitment of on campus students. Some of our efforts to recruit and socialize new students require funding. Additionally, the OC Hogs would like to be able to provide lunch at Cut once or twice and snacks at Stack occasionally. But we can't do any of these things without your help.

If you would like to donate supplies or monetary funds to the OC Hogs, email us. There are several options to help make donating equipment easy no matter your location, and we'd be glad to walk you through all the options available to you. All monetary donations will be directly deposited into the OC Hogs business account to be used as circumstances dictate to meet the needs of the crew. We can receive Paypal payments. Should any funds be left in the account after burn, the account will roll over to next year's crew and will continue to help fund OC's efforts to build the hell outta Bonfire.
